Paul Hodgins' Tools

Presenting a high quality Stock Measuring Tool as used by British Gun Makers and Fitters. Measures cast for left and right hand shooters, as shown top left, and bend (drop) at heel and comb, as shown middle left.

To measure cast, simply place gun on a table or in a padded vice as shown bottom left. Place gauge onto rib ensuring centrality at breech and muzzle. Slide rule down to heel or comb and read amount of offset. Drop can be defined as above without need of central alignment on rib.

Stock Measuring Tool

One 4' long X 1 1/2" wide X 3/8" thick aluminum beam incorporating weight reduction apertures and slot on under-edge to cover mid-beads and most fore-sights.
2 rules for heel and comb, measuring up to 4" of drop and 1 1/2" of cast, left and right in 1/16" increments.
2 sets locking bolts and screws for rules.
2 stop screws to prevent accidental detachment of rules from beam.

Stockers "Length Behind"

Measuring tool for length of pull (front trigger to butt end) as used by Stockers in the British gun trade for centuries. This one being of modern construction in steel with wooden handle. The scale measures from 12" to 18" in 1/16" increments. A sliding arm at 90% with tension bow spring and tention screw. Simple and effective to use, and definitive for L.O.P. measurements.
